ITINERARY
DAY 1: La Paz – Sorata
A very early car journey will takes us first over the high punas bordering Lake Titicaca. After ascending these, from where you can see the massifs of the Illampu and Jankho Uma, we decent through mountain valleys to reach the village of Sorata, at 8,784 ft. (2678 m). This trip takes 4-5 hours from La Paz. In Sorata, when we will be arrival to Sorata spend the night in Sorata(L,D)
DAY 2: Sorata – Laguna Chillata
Today we will have a 3,280 ft (1000 m) climb in about 6-7 hours up to Laguna Chillata, at 13,776 ft (4,200 m). our mule drivers will be ready to start the trek. Later, in about 3 hours we will arrive to a small plateau in the lower hills where we will set up our first camp. There we will set up our first camp, this time close to Inca ruins on the shores of a small lake. (B, L, D)
DAY 3: Laguna Chillata – Laguna Glaciar – Laguna Chillata.
In 5 hours of a beautiful walk, we will get to the glacier that lies between the colossal mountains of Illampu and Janko Uma. Ice towers are use to drop from the main glacier to the Laguna Glacial at 16,534 ft (5,038 m). Lunch. Later there will be some exploratory walks nearby before we return to our camp. (B, L, D)
DAY 4: Laguna Chillata – sorata – La Paz
Our return to Sorata will take 6 hours and later we set off for by car to La Paz. (B, L)

Laguna Glacial
This is a steep and wonderful trek. 6-7 hours of trekking uphill will bring you to the sacred lake Chillata. This lake is shrouded in legend and mystery, home to Inca ruins and witches can sometimes be seen at the shore communicating with the lake in a bid to heal people. A further climb to 5,038m brings you to the Glaciar – striking and surrounded by small floating icebergs. Hummingbirds fill the silence with the fantastic views of Illampu and the stunning sunset completing this beautiful scene.
