ITINERARY
(Full Day – Moderate hike)
Departure in the morning toward Chacaltaya, the highest ski resort in the world at 5300 m (1½ hrs by car). From the ski lodge, we’ll climb slowly to the summit where we’ll spend about 2 hours, enjoying spectacular views of Lake Titikaka and the unique landscape of the Royal Mountain Range of the Andes.
Later on, we’ll continue our trip to Huayna Potosí by car (about 1 hr.) where we hike up to the old glacier (a stunning ice formation) on an easy path that goes from 4700m up to 4950m. From the glaciar we’ll hike down to the refuge before our return to La Paz by car. On clear days we’ll be able to stop at an outlook of Illimani for incredible photo ops!
