ITINERARY
Day 1 La Paz – Khotia
Departure at 08:30 am from La Paz to Khotia Lake, views of altiplano, villages and lakes on the way, after 4 hours car we get Khotia, afternoon free to explore this colorful area. 4400 m. (L, D)
Day 2 Kotia – Ajwani
After breakfast we will start trekking again and following the trail beautiful view of altiplano and lakes up there, the pass at 4680 m, Chekapa valley our lunch spot, then continuo up hill to Ajawani lake, walking approximately 6 hours. Campsite at Ajwani Lake, 4580 m. (B, L, D)
Day 3 Ajwani – Jurikhota
Today we have two passes, walking about 1 ½ hours to the first pass 4930 m or 16170 feet, the highest of today. After a quick descend to Janch’allani valley 4660 m, lunch and break. Afternoon up hill to the next pass 4910 m. Wonderful spot to take picture of Condoriri Mountain the right part. Campsite at Jurikhota Lake 4680 m. Also about 6 hours of trek. (B, L, D)
Day 4 Jurikhota – Chiarkhota – La Paz
One of the best day because since in 1 ½ hours we walk up to frozen glacier lagoon by Condoriri mountain. After lunch we will continuo to the pass 5100 m, then an optional walk up to the austria peak 5300 m. Down hill to Chiarkhota lake, Condoriri National Park good for climbers and lots of pick to climb. Later we will get Tuni lake where our car is waiting us back to La Paz m. 7 hours of walk as well. One can only reach the Condoriri base camp by foot beginning at Tuni Lagoon. The views are highly rewarding, overlooking the immense Condoriri Massif, 13 snow packed peaks ranging from 5,100 – 5,648m.
This is a fantastic high altitude trek, but not for the faint hearted, it offers spectacular views of glaciated peaks, distant views of Lake Titicaca and the odds are great for spotting condors.
